Bitumen Corrugated Sheets

Bitumen corrugated sheets stand out as one of the most cost-effective roofing materials, extensively used in agricultural structures, sheds, auxiliary buildings, cottages, and garages. Typically crafted from bitumen-infused organic fibers, these corrugated sheets offer moderate durability and a relatively pleasing aesthetic for roofs. Today’s materials are free from asbestos and non-toxic. Known for their waterproof and sound-absorbing properties, bitumen corrugated sheets also boast lightweight characteristics, facilitating quicker installation compared to alternative roofing materials.

Notably, these sheets are resistant to corrosion and can withstand exposure to nitrogen, water vapor, and methane, making them an economical choice for agricultural structures such as stables and other livestock-related buildings. With a lifespan ranging from 15 to 20 years, bitumen-based corrugated sheets are durable, though they may become brittle and prone to tearing, especially nearing the end of their service life. However, their affordability and straightforward installation process allow for swift and hassle-free replacement when needed.

Installation of bitumen corrugated sheets is relatively straightforward, although it’s important to note that bitumen softens in high temperatures. Therefore, it’s advisable to avoid installing these roofing materials on excessively hot days. During installation, adhering to the manufacturer’s guidelines regarding minimum overlap and roof pitch is crucial. Fastening the sheets to the roof battens can be done using nails or screws, and cutting the material to size is best accomplished with a coarse-toothed electric circular saw. In the absence of such a tool, an oiled and coarse-toothed hand saw can suffice.
